The Lloyd’s National Business Awards 2017
Last week, i was invited to attend the Lloyd’s National Business Awards. The National Business Awards are a very prestigious event, and I was honoured and thrilled to attend. I was invited alongside Josh Bamforth, from BigNasty Studios, and Kirsti Bushbi, from Segment Creative. The three of us were invited as guests of Teesside University, who were finalists for the Duke of Edinburgh award for University Entrepreneurship.
The night saw over 1000 people in attendance, representing businesses of every shape and size. Once everyone had arrived and had a chance to mingle, a delicious three course dinner was served. During the dinner, tablets on each table were available for guests to bid in a silent auction. All money raised was donated to Mental Health UK.
After the dinner, Sir Mo Farah took to the stage, to be interviewed by BBC’s Naga Munchetty. Coming straight from being knighted, he had some inspirational words for us about always striving to succeed, never giving up, and not being satisfied with good enough.
Finally, after the speeches, the awards were announced. Unfortunately, Teesside did not win in its category. Though a shame, we are still over the moon to have been invited to attend. We hope that next year, Teesside will be nominated again. And, who knows, maybe Greenlord Studios will find itself there too!
